[Archive] Global Demographics: The Demise of the Demographic Tailwind?

Global Demographics
Alan Greenspan, former chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve was recently quoted saying “An aging population is driving demand for bonds, pushing their yields lower. We’re so used to the idea that we don’t have negative interest rates, but if you get a significant change in the attitude of the population, they look for coupon.” While there is consensus among many industry pundits about what demographic shifts to expect, there is less agreement about how these impacts will be realized. When analyzing and attempting to predict changes to labor, consumer preferences, emotional biases, fertility rates or culture, demographics play a massive role.
Come explore with us and hear Amlan Roy, PhDHead of Global Macro Policy Research, Economics at State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) and Nir Kaissar, CFA, Founder and Managing Member of Unison Advisor discuss their analysis and their predictions about the global demographic change and what this could mean for the future of investing in developed and emerging market securities.
